Loose Stool after whelping

Postby Lady » Fri Oct 05, 2012 8:29 pm

Our female had a litter of 5 male pups and she'd had a bad case of diarrhea. Is there anything I can do to help her firm up again? I've been giving her rice but the results have been rather slow. It's almost been two weeks. Is there any danger in this?

You can try 100% canned pumpkin and slippery elm. I mix the slippery elm powder with water to make a slurry and then mix it with the pumpkin. The slippery elm is good for runny stools or constipation and also for upset stomachs, throwing up. It works great for both dogs and cats, works fast too. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it. I know it's probably due to eating too many of the placenta's though. I'll be sure not to let her have soooo many next time!
